Nick and I had the pleasure of giving a lecture on the topic of “Modern Druids” for the Gaelic Arts Society yesterday. Sassafras Grove had been asked back after Vicki and Maria presented there in April of 2015. Since they had covered a lot of material about the ancient Druids last time, the Society asked us to talk a bit about modern Druidic practice this time. We covered the Druid Revival of the 18th-19th centuries and gave a brief overview of the main Druid organizations active today. We then covered a bit about how we practice and gave an overview of the Wheel of the Year.
Our presentation was very well received, and the attendees seemed to be engaged with the material and asked a lot of questions–including how we came to be Druids. Many people came up to talk to us afterward, and a few members already asked their President to have us back again in the future.
Thanks t0 Vicki and Maria for forging this relationship and for Nick for helping with yesterday’s presentation. This sort of outreach give us invaluable opportunities to build bridges into the non-Pagan Pittsburgh community.
