Samhain Rite
Saturday, November 5, 2016
Parish Hill, North Park
Door open at 4 pm
Ritual begins promptly at 5 pm
Join Sassafras Grove as we honor the Horned God Cernunnos in a Wild Hunt Samhain ritual. Samhain is a time to honor the act of letting go; a time to honor the cycle of death both in nature and in our own lives. It is a time of transition and the last chance to gather what you need and release what is unnecessary before the year turns from old to new. Join us as we celebrate the turning of the year with a community ritual hunt.
Prep work: Before the rite, think about what you need to hunt. What in your life needs to be changed, expunged, or killed? What needs to die to allow transformation? Either bring a safely flammable symbol of this Prey, or write it down onto a piece of paper (provided before the ritual).
You may want to bring:
*Sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing. Please note that the ritual will be held outside if possible. In the event of bad weather, the ritual and hunt will be held indoors.
An offering to Cernunnos. Ideas include symbols of the harvest or symbols of the hunt.
A potluck dish to share
Camp chair or blanket to sit on during the rite
Drum or other percussion instruments
Alcohol is not permitted at this event.
