The first public rite Sassafras Grove offered was at Lughnassadh in 1992. We celebrate our 26th anniversary by honoring Lugh, Lord of All Skills, who gave the grove its first omen-The endeavor is just and will be blessed…but much work lies ahead, and not all of it easy work.
Please feel free to bring offerings for Lugh, but extras will also be provided. Offerings that showcase your personal skills are definitely appropriate as are fruits of the season. Silent words of thanks are always appropriate.
Moonstones is located at 2892 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216, on the corner of Potomac Avenue and West Liberty. The shop is located a few blocks from Potomac Station on the Red Line T line and right on the 41 Bower Hill bus line.
Our events are free and open to the community, but donations from those who are able help to defray the cost of space rental and supplies.
Plant a Tree! Over the next year, Sassafras Grove will be collecting cash donations to be used to plant trees through the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of the Earth Mother. For just $2.00 we can plant a tree in a National Forest! So if you have an extra dollar or two, please consider donating. We’ll keep you updated quarterly on the planting progress!
